Project Overview – GE Mining CAS

  • In the GE Mining CAS project for GE Transportation, I served as a DevOps Engineer in a 19-member team at Quest Global Engineering Services. The project involved transforming a completely manual, VM-based development ecosystem into a fully automated DevOps-driven environment leveraging Docker, Jenkins, Artifactory, and AWS.
  • My role began with environment migration, where all legacy VMware-based build and development systems were rebuilt from scratch using Docker. I designed a containerized development model where a central server hosted pre-built Docker images. Developers logged in via RDP to create their own isolated containers with fully configured tools, enabling faster onboarding, consistent environments, and improved productivity.
  • I set up Jenkins from scratch, integrating key tools such as Checkmarx, JFrog Artifactory, and Docker, enabling a complete CI/CD lifecycle. The pipeline included automated static code analysis using Checkmarx, code checkout from GitHub, container-based build execution, and artifact storage in Artifactory repositories. I also integrated embedded automation test cases into the CI/CD process to ensure reliable and continuous testing.
  • The project required extensive work across Linux, VDI, and AWS environments, including migration of Docker setups into AWS, Jenkins version upgrades, Confluence setup, and configuring multiple Jenkins jobs tailored to different build workflows. I actively monitored systems, handled incidents, resolved environment issues, and ensured high availability with 24/7 on-call support.
  • I collaborated closely with onsite teams and clients to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, apply change requests, and maintain strong communication throughout the project. My contributions significantly reduced downtime, improved deployment consistency, accelerated environment provisioning, and modernized the overall workflow for GE Mining CAS.
